Week 1 - What DOES he know...?

So, as part of the first major assignment in Becoming More Bookish, I have opted for the following resources:

For resources on Book recommendations, I am going to follow The Daily Beast.  Since I borderline-religiously use Goodreads and NoveList in my day-to-day Reader Services activity, I wanted to branch out into a site that I don't normally follow.  Daily Beast looks like a really interesting "digest" site, and already I'm enjoying the content that I've browsed through - especially the amusing little story about how Captain Underpants is one of the ALA's Most Controversial Books of 2012.

For the resources on Genre recommendations, I'm going to follow Tor - Fiction Affliction.  I don't read a whole lot of Fiction (heresy!) so I figure that this would be a good place to try and keep tabs on some of the quirkier aspects of the genre.  The fact that the tag alone says "Fiction Affliction" was enough to get me hooked, or that it doesn't seem to be all "Vampires A-Go-Go!" in terms of books covered.

I took the quizzes on children's book covers and adult book covers.  I did pretty well for the Adult quiz (21/24) and halfway-decent for Children's (15/20).
